Instrumentation:
YAMAHA 4900 Marimba-4 1/2 octaves, Honduras Rosewood. Need electricity for amplification, effects. Ed also performs on Vibes (YAMAHA 2700), for more JAZZ events, and events that have limited space/loading. The vibes (vibraphone) is similar to the marimba, but is smaller (5ft long) and has metal bars. The vibes are 3 octaves, and more of a mid-range sound. College and large concert recitals may use BOTH vibes and marimba.

Electronics/P.A.:
Ed uses a electronic delay, octave pedal, 2-6 mics, Keyboard amp (15" speaker, recommended: Peavey KB300) or PA with monitors (200+ watts).

Cost:
Variable, depending on travel, P.A., length of performance, location, time of day, etc. Price range is usually between $250 (Seattle-metro weekday-daytime shows) to $2500.00 (full concert recitals/clinics/guest soloist)

Loading and parking:
For one full size cargo van nearby site. Large doorways are preferable (35"+, 33" is possible). IMPORTANT: Elevators need to be 8 feet long. Hallways need to be wide, with large turning areas (the marimba does roll on wheels, but it is long and needs room to make turns). The instrument can break down, if necessary, but additional fees will be necessary (stairs, hard-loads, airline, etc.). The marimba weighs 200lbs. and needs 4 people to lift. Generally, a few steps are fine.

Stage description:
The marimba is 7 1/2 feet long, and 35" wide. Suggested stage area: 12'X6'.

Possible Out of Town Costs (Negot.):
Travel, Accomodations. Combination booking of multiple events (Concerts/Clinics/Workshops) can keep costs down. Air freight for marimba and vibraphone is expensive. For out-of-town events, instruments are generally supplied by presenter, when possible.
