The Olympic Marimba Duo - performs a variety of music from around the world, including jazz, classical and ethnic styles. The duo performs on a seven and a half foot long Honduras rosewood marimba and vibraphone. They have played extensively throughout the Northwest in schools, retirement homes, festivals, shopping centers and special events of all kinds. The Duo has been on the Washington State Arts Commission's Pilot Program (1986), and in residence at North Seattle Community College since 1985.
A typical program will include ragtime by Scott Joplin, classical music by Bach and Mozart, vaudevillian novetly xylophone solos (such as "Nola" and "The Galloping Comedians") and jazz standards that Lionel Hampton would play. Also, a brief history of the marimba, tracing the instrument from Africa through South, Central and North America is presented. Special sound effects, costumes and percussion instruments are occasionally added to enhance the performance.

Ed Hartman - has been playing percussion for over twenty years. He combines his jazz training with a degree from Indiana University to create new and innovative arrangements and original compositions. He has performed with The Paul Winter Consort, and recorded with Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel, and Ellypsis. His own album "The River" has received national critical acclaim.
Don Dieterich - received his degrees from Montana State University and Pennsylvania University. He has performed with many different groups and ensembles including the Breckenridge Chamber Orchestra, Cinco de Mayo, Brief Encounter, Jim Lyon, and The Rhythm Boys. Don has also performed in theatre, dance, and recording studios throughout the Northwest.
The Olympic Marimba Duo is available for concert performances of all types.
